Jack Hammer (Brewdog)

Jack Hammer, Brewdog
Name: Jack Hammer
Label: "Ruthless India Pale Ale"
Brewery: Brewdog
ABV: 7.2%

Tasting notes: "Get ready to hammer your taste buds. Start with massive grapefruit aroma. Then accelerate hard into mind bending bitterness. Ride the spike of caramel craziness until the end of the line. And let the bitterest of bitter finishes nail your taste-buds to the floor. Jack Hammer - if bitterness is a place, you have reached your destination."

Game: This week we've mostly been "playing" the new Assassin's Creed Origins DLC, specifically the new Discovery Tour mode. This lets us go around the stunningly realised Egypt and embark on a fully narrated tour of the various wonders it has to offer.  The only inaccuracy with what we've seen so far is that it describes the Great Pyramid of Giza as a tomb built by humans, however, everyone now knows it's actually a disused power plant originally built by aliens. Tomb... pfft.

Stocking Fillers (Staffordshire Brewery)

Stocking Fillers (Staffordshire Brewery)
Name: Stocking Fillers
Label: "How you fill them is important - Smooth dark stout"
Brewery: Brewed and bottled for Cottage Delight by Staffordshire Brewery
ABV: 4.5%

Tasting notes: "A well filled stocking is an essential part of Christmas morning, be careful how you unwrap yours." Last of the Christmas beers :(

Game: Today we finally got 100% of all the achievements for Assassin's Creed Origins.  All pretty straight forward which was nice. Most difficult being the one where you had to bring a corpse to a predator. Strangely awkward when you get too close and the said predators start to eat your ass [there are donkeys in this game? -Ed]!  For the first time in history we're actually looking forward to DLC though now. We want more Origins!

Sea Fury (Sharps)

Sea Fury (Sharps)
Name: Sea Fury
Label: "Exceptional special ale"
Brewery: Sharp's
ABV: 5.0%

Tasting notes: "Sea Fury Special Ale takes its inspiration from the stormy Atlantic seas that crash into the rugged Cornish coast during the long, dark winter. This exceptional beer was first brewed in 1996 to satisfy demand from local fishermen for a stronger ale to enjoy after long and often perilous stints at sea."

Game: This week is Xbox One X week! So far we've installed Assassin's Creed Origins, Evil Within 2 and South Park The Fractured But Whole. Assassins's Creed Origins is the most played so far and we must say the 4K graphics look absolutely incredible. It's definitely the best looking game we've ever played. Like, EVER! And we've played a lot of games! We've been playing games since the 80's! We KNOW games! [yes ok I think they get it - Ed]

Cambridge IPA (Elgoods)

Cambridge IPA (Elgoods)
Name: Cambridge IPA
Label: "The company is sill owned and run by the 5th generation of the Elgood family"
Brewery: Elgood's
ABV: 4.7

Tasting notes: "A classic English Ale, a blend of Pale Ale, Crystal and Amber malts gives a smooth beer with a full malty flavour, with hints of dry biscuit. The hops are a blend of 4 English varieties and the bitterness is balanced by malt fruity notes. A long finish is complimented by the hop aroma which has a hint of spice."

Game: We're at E3 this week [no we're not you liar - Ed] and there's been some great stuff revealed so far.  The most anticipated reveal for GamingAles though is the new Assassin's Creed game, Assassin's Creed Origins. It's 4K, it looks amazing, there's a big snake.

Here's some trailer:
