Mosaic Pale Ale (Adnams)

Mosaic Pale Ale (Adnams)
Name: Mosaic Pale Ale
Label: "Jack Brand - Single Hop Beer"
Brewery: Adnams
ABV: 4.1%

Tasting notes: "Adnams Jack Brand beers pay homage to the generations of brewers that have come before us. With a firm nod to our history, we've added an exciting slurp of 'the modern' made with, you guessed it, mosaic hops. This pale blonde has bags of bold mango, peach, lemon & pine flavours with a dry hoppy finish. Big & fruity, it's a one-hop-wonder!"

Game: So we're finally home from E3 - whew! [you mean finally home from work like any other day? - Ed].  Stand-out reveals for us were Assassin's Creed Origins, Wolfenstein 2: The New Collossus, Evil Within 2 and of course the Xbox One X.  Slim pickings on the games front really. Here's hoping Spider-Man is only a timed PS4 exclusive rather than an exclusive exclusive!

E3 2017 rating: 6/10 - raised to 7/10 because we were actually there [no we weren't, so 6/10 - Ed]

80 Shilling (Belhaven)

80 Shilling (Belhaven)
Name: 80 Shilling
Label: "Rich Smooth Rounded"
Brewery: Belhaven
ABV: 3.9%

Tasting notes: "The 'Shilling' names typical of traditional Scots Ales refer to the historic wholesale price of a cask. 80 Shillings were top shelf stuff, so only the best ingredients are used in our classic 80/-, with 3 local malts and two hop varieties creating a rich copper coloured beer with malty, toffee and soft fruit character."

Game: We love Assassin's Creed figurines here at GamingAles. We has loads. Assassin's Creed Origins is now available to pre-order and the Ubisoft store has a fantastically titled version called Assassin's Creed Origins Dawn of The Creed Legendary Edition. It's a limited run of 999 units. Sadly it's £699.99. This is too much even for us *begins softly weeping*. The statue would be too tall to fit on a shelf in our display cabinet anyway [stop trying to make yourself feel better you scrub - Ed].

Here's what we could have owned if we weren't poor:

Rare Breed (Butcombe)

Rare Breed (Butcombe)
Name: Rare Breed
Label: "Truth in every taste"
Brewery: Butcombe Brewing Co
ABV: 4.2%

Tasting notes: "Rare Breed is the result of Adam Henson's dedication to sustainable farming and a passion for characterful artisinal beer. Using the finest Maris Otter malting barley and aromatic Fuggles hops, delicious, fruity Cascade and Amarillo hops and of course, purest Mendip spring water, Rare Breed is a distinctive, clean tasting pale ale with a smooth, citrus twist. A bold, stand-out beer that's one of a kind. "

Game: Hello, we're still here at E3 [no we're still not - Ed] and we're boiling hot in this LA heat [no we're not, we're cold because we're in England - Ed].  Big news - Xbox Scorpio is now called Xbox One X

Here's a fancy reveal trailer the tells you absolutely nuffin but looks pretty:

Cambridge IPA (Elgoods)

Cambridge IPA (Elgoods)
Name: Cambridge IPA
Label: "The company is sill owned and run by the 5th generation of the Elgood family"
Brewery: Elgood's
ABV: 4.7

Tasting notes: "A classic English Ale, a blend of Pale Ale, Crystal and Amber malts gives a smooth beer with a full malty flavour, with hints of dry biscuit. The hops are a blend of 4 English varieties and the bitterness is balanced by malt fruity notes. A long finish is complimented by the hop aroma which has a hint of spice."

Game: We're at E3 this week [no we're not you liar - Ed] and there's been some great stuff revealed so far.  The most anticipated reveal for GamingAles though is the new Assassin's Creed game, Assassin's Creed Origins. It's 4K, it looks amazing, there's a big snake.

Here's some trailer:

Dryneck (Wychwood)

Dryneck (Wychwood)
Name: Dryneck
Label: "A golden beer to wash away the drought"
Brewery: Wychwood Brewery
ABV: 4.0%

Tasting notes: "The perfect beer to quench the driest of throats. Mosaic hops release a combination of berry, fruity & citrus blasts resulting in a mouth-watering golden beer to wash away the drought."

Game: Join us over the coming week for all the best gaming related news coming out of E3. E3 stands for Excellent gamEs Enformation - this includes three E's so they shorten it to "E3" to sound cool.  And obviously "News" stands for Notable Events, Weather and Sport so we can sort a couple of them out now: Weather - Hot (LA in Americas init), Sport - no football or anything because it's about video games.

First Call (Badger)

First Call (Badger)
Name: First Call
Label: "Rich & Hoppy Beer - Single English Hop"
Brewery: Badger
ABV: 4.0%

Tasting notes: "A classic country ale, First Call is brewed with a single hop variety for purity and character. The dwarf hop First Gold grows in low hedgerows enabling a better quality harvest. A clean, fresh, distinctive beer with hints of orange and spice from the hop, perfect with traditional English roasts and pies."

Game: Remember Silkworm? Well Heavy Weapon on Xbox 360 is similar. It's a side-scrolling shooter, except you're in a tank instead of a jeep. It's got explosions, nukes and more enemies than you can shake a retro game at.  What more do you want. It's great, but it gets dead hard like in the 80's and 90's.

Rating: 8 out 10

American IPA (Shipyard Brewing Co)

American IPA (Shipyard Brewing Co)
Name: American IPA
Label: "Portland Maine USA - Excellence in brewing"
Brewery: Shipyard Brewing Co
ABV: 5.0%

Tasting notes: "Combining the finest malted barley with a whole bunch of audacious American hops. This refreshing and gutsy American IPA is crisp, refreshing and explodes with a grapefruity citrus flavour."

Game: Another Xbox One Game with Gold this month - SpeedRunners. Your little character runs, jumps, swings and otherwise hurtles around circular levels. The aim being to leave your three competitors so far behind they go off-screen.  We imagine this would be great if you have some mates round for the local multiplayer mode (get some mates then - Ed)

Rating: 4 lonelinesses out of 10

Lakeland Gold (Hawkshead)

Lakeland Gold (Hawkshead)
Name: Lakeland Gold
Label: "Well hopped golden ale - Beer from the Lakes"
Brewery: Hawkshead Brewery
ABV: 4.4%

Tasting notes: "A refreshing, well hopped, fruity and bitter Golden Ale brewed with soft Lakeland water, yeast, English Maris Otter malted barley and a blend of full flower hops. The signature hop is American Cascade."

Game: Bioshock in space you say? Yes, Prey is kinda Bioshock in space.  For some reason I keep getting lost and/or coming up against over-powered baddies ALL the time. A few years ago I would have had this game for breakfast, nowadays though it's kicking my bony beer soaked ass (you sit in beer? - Ed).

Initial rating: 8 tonics out of 10
(1 out of 10 for making me feel old)
