Budweiser

Name: Budweiser Budweiser
Label: "King of Beers - Brewed by our original all natural process using choicest hops, rice and best barley malt"
Brewery: Budweiser
ABV: 5.0%

Rating: Why do beer snobs not like Budweiser (and lager in general for that matter)?  It's great! And this one is brewed with rice, so it's good for you too.

Game: Guess what... Mass Effect 2! Still building my team. The Collectors are a pretty mean bunch of badass scary dudes, especially that "Harbinger" chap...

Liberation (Thwaites)

Name: LiberationLiberation
Label: "A beer to be remembered - Proud supporters of the Royal British Legion"
Brewery: Thwaites
ABV: 4.9%

Rating: Great malt flavour and subtle red fruit overtones. Daniel Thwaites donates a minimum of £10,000 a year to the Legion from the sales of Liberation Ale. Get drinking...

Game:  Already spent about ten hours playing Mass Effect 2 and not even recruited all my team yet - and this game spans two discs! Its going to be a long haul but will no doubt be enjoyable every step of the way.  In an annoying twist however, much like in real life, everyone I meet seems to be really horrible to me...

Suffolk Springer (Greene King)

Name: Suffolk SpringerSuffolk Springer
Label: "Premium Dark Ale - Gloriously rich flavours of fruitcake and caramel"
Brewery: Greene King
ABV: 6.0%

Rating: A premium ale from the Greene King Brewery in Suffolk, a brewer of fine ales for over 200 years

Game: Forget Assassin's Creed 2 DLC, Mass Effect 2 has arrived.  So far this game is shaping up to be one of the best games ever.  Potential for multiple play throughs means I might never buy another game again!

Cheshire Gold (Coach House)

Name: Cheshire GoldCheshire Gold
Label: "Brewed in Cheshire"
Brewery: The Coach House Brewing Co
ABV: 4.1%

Rating: Aye, its tastes great!

Game: This week we've mostly been finding out that playing games causes rickets, or did it say turns us into Adam Rickett?  I'm not sure (I was too busy laughing at the horrible journalism), but they both seem equally as implausible.  The Metro published the story here. I especially like this quote from the Metro site, "Some doctors thing (sic) that the rise in cases of rickets is due to children spending too much time indoors playing video games."  I hope I never have to interview "some doctors thing". Scary stuff. Cheap journalism from a free newspaper.  F+ could try harder, or better still, don't even bother trying next time.

Label: "Champion ale - Count the rings of experience"

Golden Champion (Badger)

Name: Golden ChampionGolden Champion
Label: "Award winning finsest quality ale - Summer in a glass all year - delicately strong and refreshingly light"
Brewery: Badger
ABV: 5%

Rating: So easy to drink it was gone in the blink of an eye

Game: Took about ten goes to defeat the Archdemon. Eat Grey Warden blade fiery dragon dude! Game over. Forty five hours well utilised and superb value for money in an age of five to seven hour single player campaigns at £39.99. Dragon Age: Origins rocks. Roll on Mass Effect 2.

Golden Glory (Badger)

Name: Golden GloryGolden Glory
Label: "Absolutely glorious - delicate floral peach & melon aroma"
Brewery: Badger
ABV: 4.5%

Rating: Must drink more of this

Game: Started to avoid side missions now in Dragon Age and instead focusing on the main story line because Mass Effect 2 is fast approaching. Storyline certainly picks up the pace when not messing around with other missions. Good stuff. 8/10

Sunday 10 January 2010

Ashadha

Name: AshadhaAshadha
Label: "Premium Indian style lager - ideal with all exotic foods - brewed to an authentic Indian recipe - for a subtle and smooth taste"
Brewery: Brewed in France(?) for Marks and Spencer
ABV: 5%

Rating: The French know how to brew Indian lager by the looks of it.

Game: No games for a while - the most cataclysmic and incapacitating of all migraines has taken hold for the past week or so. At its peak, activities ranged from either vomiting or sleeping and not much else.  At one point I thought death was almost certain thanks to the excruciating nature of the brain pain, the like of which I've not felt since the years of teen. They really do suck, if you've never had one count yourself lucky - read all about them here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Migraine.
